Hello,

I’m currently rigging a Low-Poly model using Cinema 4D R10.111 MOCCA.
After binding the joints to model I begin using the weight tool. There seems to be an issue with painting the weights and getting the results I feel I should be getting. I uncheck the Visibility Only option and using the Control key I paint the areas of the model to weight so movement will be restricted.

What happens is when I rotate the elbow other parts of the geometry that have been painted (black) will move when in fact they should not. Not sure what direction to go to correct this.

I have used different settings such as Strength, radius etc. with no results. Also, I tried the Weight Effector on the Skin with little or no results.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I can't tell you exactly what is going on without looking at the scene but the only way that I can think of to produce those results are if you where painting the weights for the wrong bone. Double check to make sure that this is not the case. The proper way to paint weights is to select the bone you want to edit first and then select the weight tool. When you want to paint weights for a different bone, just select that bone in the object manager, not in the weight list (don't know if that is your problem or not but I have made that mistake before.) ;) If you have used the "Bind" command from the menu, you should already have weights assigned and thus, you will see white areas of your mesh when you select different bones. Use that as a starting point. If you don't see any weights when you begin painting, you might not be "Binding" correctly (make sure you have all the bones and the mesh selected at the same time and choose "Bind" from the character menu... seems simple enough but I have managed to mess this up before too).

Good luck!

Thank you for the information. I will follow your suggestion and look forward to the results.

hard to say whats going one but one theory I'd have is your skin deformer may be applied to the hypernurbs object not the character mesh directly.

In your weight tool under the display settings is an option for mouse over. turn this on and when you mouse over a point you wil see what it is influenced by.
