View Full Version : Playing games on OpenGL rather than D3D ?
Schwinnz 04-02-2003, 04:20 AM Hi !
I just ordered my computer (wish all parts will be at home before friday  ) and I was wondering, as I have chosen a Quadro 4 980XGL graphics card, if my games (UT2003 and such) will run faster in OpenGL rather than Direct 3D.
Also I was wondering if any game can run on the OpenGL API or it's just some of all?

the quadro4 cards are more than capable of spitting our decent frames per second in directx7 and 8 games. indeed i certainly wouldn't bother using openGL modes in games like UT2003 on any nvidia based hardware.
i've happily run games like UT2003, BF1942 and GTA3 on quadro 900XGL cards in the past without problems.

The Quadro4 750XL+ are truely one of the few card lines that actually do both apps and games equally well. There really isn't a comparable solution. Other cards may do apps better, or may do games better, but none do it at the compatibility level of the quadro's.
Enjoy your new card. :)
