View Full Version : Old-ish 22" crt giving me green corners
berniebernie 08-29-2007, 10:26 PM Several years ago a local graphics company bought new LCD monitors and I took an old, nameless 22" CRT from them. It does the job well and is not too tiring on the eyes, however lately I've noticed that at the corners of my screen images seem to be green. As far as I know I've never placed a magnet near those corners and never had speakers next to the screen. Degauss doesn't do anything and I can tweak a little knob called 'purity' which displaces the green corners from top to bottom but doesn't dissolve them.
Any technical insight ? I've looked around google mostly but I have had no potent result.
Do I have to dump the bulky monster ?
Cheers

It's sad but true story. You need to think about saying good bye to the good old CRT as it seems like your optical engeen is busted. (repair would cost more than a new LCD 22').best advice is if you cant aford a new screen then really try and change the screen settings until you get something thats not bugging you too much and then go from there and save up for a new screen.
Cheers.

Ah well I half expected it anyways.
The screen is normal for a half-hour/hour but as soon as it's warmed up, it gets green.
Too bad. Next stop computer shop.
Check a TV Repairshop near you. Very often they have demagnitizing coils to demagnitize CRTs. Chances are this will remedy the problem.
