Hey all.

I have this system as my mobile workstation:

Dell Inspiron 8200

It has a GeForce 440 Go 64MB grahics "card".

I'm somewhat happy with it's performance, but was wondering if there was anything I could do on the software side to give it a bit of a boost.

I see that Nvidia has released new drivers, and with the whole softquadro thing, I was wondering if any of it could apply to my mobile card.

I have no idea how the installed drivers differ from the Nvidia reference drivers, but I'm assuming they have been changed by Dell for my specific laptop to support the LCD or something to that extent.

Any info you guys may have would be awsome, as I can't seem to find much on this subject.

Thanks!

i haven't kept up to date with the rivatuner/softquadro development for a while, but last i checked there was no support for soft-modding mobile chipsets. you'd have to RTFM for yourself and see if that's changed recently. i somehow doubt it, but i've been wrong before. :)

as for driver availability: mobile chipset drivers are released by the laptop manufacturers. the way mobile chipsets integrate with a laptop is more vendor specific than your average graphics card. nvidia themselves (ant ati too) don't release generic drivers for their latest mobile chipsets. you have to download them from the laptop manufacturer's website (in your case, support.dell.com).

Hey, thanks, man.

As I expected. Good to finally know that.

Again, thanks for taking the time to post.
