View Full Version : animation technique - cigarette smoke foetus?

We're currently at work on a cigarette smoke animation. Simple enough to do except we want the cig smoke to become a foetus shape after the initial point of emission. So the tube of smoke closest to the emission is normal enough, but the smoke from that point onward we're trying to get into a foetus shape.

At the minute we've created a simple geometry/displacement map that mimics that lovely intense flow at the nearest point of a cigarette and we're using an image for the foetus shape. The problem is we're not getting quite the right results we'd like using the image.

Can anyone suggest any ideas on tackling this one? I'd thought about using the image they supplied (which was done in pshop and they love it - talk about sucking yer own ..anyway!), and somehow getting particles to work with that. I know I can colour them and emit them from the image luminosity but any other approaches would be good.

thanks
