View Full Version : Star Constellation from picture(s)
ThePolyMole 08-27-2007, 08:54 PM How would I create my own stars so that they could move - i know thats a really bad explanation but im not quite really sure what exactly I need. I have a wolf which I am going to animate (prob in maya) throwing back its head and howling but all I want to see is the outline and a few details made out of stars. Is there a way i could maybe apply a photoshop filter to it or some other way.
Im not even sure how to do this for a still image so any help at all I am extremely thankful for.

You render those regions with high enough contrast and then extract them to apply further filters. Simple enough. Not sure what your actual problems are. Extracting the regions? Finding suitable effects?

Not sure if I'm addressing your actual question, but anyway:
For PS there are plenty of online tuts, on how to create stars and nebulas, using the stock filters, like noise, adjusting levels, layering, adding clouds -fractal noise, glow etc.
In AE, if you have particular I think there is a starfield preset, otherwise, either create from scratch within AE, or import the layered PSD you have created and animate.
