Hello.
I'm making a new desing in the Cinema4D, but I have a problem, the "model" is just a tribal with a little "Y" extrude (only 15px), the problem here is when I add the material (with a bitmap for the texture) the C4D apply it in the sides (where are the 15px) and no in the front of the model, I changed the "Projection" of the material to frontal but doesn't work in the "Perspective View"... How can I chose the place of the material?

A screenshot:
Clic (http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/5296/dfvhj3.jpg)

Up-Left: Only the material, no changes... If ou see the material is in the sides.
Down Left: Now is in frontal, but is wrong, I want the material took the shape of the model (I did the texture with the same size and shape)
Up-Right: Material only in the selection.
Up-Down: Only in the selection but with "Frontal" setting.

I tryied to make editable the object, select the side and apply the material bt doesn't work...

Thanks for the help, have a nice day.

1. Select the texture tag and in its settings set the Flat type projection. If you haven't done yet any texture rotation, you will see wrong texturing in the preview in the viewport or in render (usually only parallel, coloured lines).

2. In the left Toolbox select the Texture Axis Tool. Now you should see a yellow "net" that represents the texture in the viewport. You'll notice its rotation is wrong i.e. it is rotated orthogonal to the surface you want to apply the texture at.

3. With the Texture Axis Tool still active, use the standard rotating procedure (the Rotate Tool or better, the manual input in the Coordinate Manager) to rotate the yellow "net" to become coplanar with the surface to be textured. In your example, I guess you'll simply have to change the Pitch value to -90 (270) degrees - but I can not be sure as I don't know the orientation of your texture. You will now notice the texture preview appearing on the surface of the object, but it will probably be stretched and repeating. If the texture is not yet correctly oriented, try to change the Bank value in the Coordinate manager as well. If the texture is correctly oriented but mirrored, use the +90 degrees value instead of -90 etc.

4. Once the texture rotation is correct but the texture still incorrectly stretched, go to the Object manager menu and select Tags - Fit to object (the texture tag must be still selected!). That will fit (stretch) the texture to cover exactly the surface you want, provided that the texture is cut exactly i.e. that it has not got an empty border or something. If the texture has got a border and therefore still doesn't fit, you can either crop the texture in a texture editing program (recommended!) or use the scale tool to scale the yellow "net" interactively a bit.

Hope it helps.

...

I'm a technocrat, so I don't believe in supernatural. To my experience and knowledge there are no Gods;) - it's only us, a bunch of overdeveloped monkeys here on this paradise planet in the Solar system - with each other and the Cinema 4D help system to help us, as e[dub] correctly stated above... ;).

Thank you, but let us not exagerate - it was an extremely basic question. I often say I wish there were Internet and forums like this in the times when I was self-taught 3D graphics.

Wish you luck with your project and dont give up when you again come against an "unsolvable" problem. We were all there, so don't hesitate to ask. And if you insist on staying religious ;) and therefore want to meet real GODS from the field, come also to visit the Maxon's Cineversity forum and meet people like Dr. Sassi, Kai and the other Instructors there.

Y3K, please don't overlook the smilies in my previous post. I haven't had the intention to bring up the religion or something as a serious matter as I'm well aware it would be against the Forum Rules plus I actually don't care what other folk believe in as long as they respect others - it is just my strange sense of humour. Glad your problem is resolved, see you around :)

No at all... Isn't your sense of humor... Is my bad english xD!
I see a little... "Confuse" in the conversation...
So, I think is better leave this as is.

I don't care about the religion (I'm not believe in that, and I think you don't too), about the politic or something, I'm completly neutral... But my english is a problem.

Have a nice day ;)
