View Full Version : Maya Licensing
powerwave3d 04-08-2002, 07:42 PM I'm currently considering on switching to Maya but I am confused on the Annual Maintenance Fee business. If I purchase Maya Complete @ $1995, do I have to purchase the maintenance package inorder to obtain a valid license? Or, can I just spend the initial $1995 and then upgrade whenever I feel like it at whatever the upgrade costs at that time?
I think that made sense:)
Thanks in advance,

I also would like to know this. I have tried to get in touch with a reseller but haven't got a reply yet. Do you buy maya and then pay for yearly support? are you allowed to use maya commercially if you don't pay every year? I need to know if i should strt saving my coins now.
The maintenance contract is not required to use maya commerically. Once you pay your $1995 it's yours, make as much $$$ as you can with it.

if its the student version the licence expires every year , BUT if its the commercial version the licence is permanent and does not expire.
either way nobody forces you to get the maintenance support , thats totally optional and has nothing to do with the licence.
