Sorry to bother again, I'm just very new to Cinema 4D and 3D. Here is what I am trying to do in Cinema 4D.

http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/7185/freshbeerkc7.jpg
A simple white background with white floor with reflection.

Here's what I can do so far.
http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/7723/picture2qm3.png
I use sky (80% with gradient of 30 - 40 black to white) and circle plane floor, and my light source is coming from the left. If I change my sky to be 100% white, the glass would disappear. My floor also looks very gray, and I want it to be white.

Please help me with lighting, setup, etc. Thanks :)

Maybe you should post your material settings, so we can comment and help. If you don't want it to disappear on a white bg just lower the transparency or comp it in post using an object buffer.

hi
you can use SLA materials, it will give you a good effect! :thumbsup:
use BANJI.

Hi,

I just want a white background and white floor that reflects my glass.

Here is my material setting

Sky:
color = 100%, with gradient 20-40 % black to white
Specular on

vase:
color = brightness 0%
Transparency = 100%, fresnel on

floor:
color = brightness 80%
reflection = 30%
Alpha = gradient black to white
specular = on

Hi, abdelouahabb

Where is SLA material?

Where is SLA material?
i think they're special shaders, so you'll find them where you'll find fog shader, so you'll dont find them when you create a new material with color and transparency and...(i think not all, because there is some shaders that you find them there) but what you need for the moment you'll find it where you find special shaders. :)
hope you understand me because i try to find the few english words that i've in RAM :thumbsup:

Thanks abdelouahabb, but there isn't 1 in my shader (I see Banji, bazi, fog,etc).

Ok... Try this:
Render the normal glass in TARGA with "Alpha Channel"
Open it in Photoshop, add a background, duplicate the layer, put it "upside down" and down the opacity... I'm 100% sure it works :P

ok, I'll try photoshop method. thanks everyone.

Thank you, Y3K

just an update.

This the best I could do with the glass. I'll make a reflection in photoshop.

Mmm... It looks ok... But if you want do it more like the other (the beer) do this:
Render the glass BUT in the "frontal view" with TARGA and alpha chanel.
Cut the render using the alpha chanel and make the reflection.

If you need help can upload the C4D and I'll show you how ;-)

I don't know why you don't simply lower the transparency a tad, glass ain't 100% transparent.

Yes, I would like to make it look more like the beer. I tried to fix the distortion too but just don't know how. I'll upload my c4d file.

"I don't know why you don't simply lower the transparency a tad, glass ain't 100% transparent."

= I did try lower the material on the vase around 95%-98%, but it just doesn't look right. I got that grayish look (like with gouraud shading on).

uhm, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it physically impossible to have a reflection simultatneously with a 100% white background?

I mean, a reflections are additive, right? how can you add more white to white?

I'm just saying that you'll probabbly have to lower your glass reflectivity to something like 98%, just so you'll have something to work with... like some others have already suggested.

He just has to lower the transparency to see more reflections, the bg has nothing to do with that. Even at 99% transparency things start to change, he should just try.

transparency+reflexion+diffusion=100;

at 99%

yes, it looks 100 times better than before! I see it now (at different angle). I think im happy with the result.

Oh, my god. This is what I picture in my mind. Did you change any setting?

In the .c4d no... Is your work, I can't edit it ;-)
By the way, I give you the PSD... You can do with it everything ;)

Have a nice day.

PS: I'll erase the PSD now ;-)
