Title: Alpha-Theta by Ked David Matheson
Name: Ken Matheson
Country: United States
Software: Photoshop

This was a study of symettry and eing able to duplicate two totally different paintings without duplicating them with the ctrl=D r copy pasting. I acttually painted this twice to match as much symetry as possible. I offset one imgage slightly from the other so you could tell.

Alpha=Theta are out brainwave activities dring sleep when during theta, we are on the cusp of Delta or REM sleep and with Alpha we are on the cusp of theta r we are ust starting to fall asleep. I wanted to catch the essence of brainwave activity between 2 intermediataryy levels of sleep proccess'.

I used photoshop only for this particular painting to try test the boundaries of CS3 and also to gain more understanding of CS3 extended edition.

Wow, I'm speechless. This is fantastic. I love it. I wish the separation in the middle wasn't just that blur.

I agreee, I should have created a connection visually between the two states but since when you are woken up before you hit delta sleep by the death response, your body thinking it is dying sending signals to the brain to wake it immediately, I decided to have a distinct divergence in pieces. Or, in short - I was just lazy on this one, lol

Thanks for your crit.

Wow, thanks diego. I'm flattered. I do a lot of concert art for screens so it's funny you mention that.

Ahh, so this is what your avatar is, again totally awesome!

I love it and especially like the futuristic feel of it. I think is it very unique this piece, not at all like Giger. I would love to reference this character as a 3d Maya piece if you would allow me to? I would of course give you full credit for the concept, I would really like to attempt modeling it!

5 stars from me!

Again, your work is fantastic! Just one critique, I wouldn't submit so much of it at once because people tend to pass it by and not focus on the thread that keeps gainin momentum.

Just my 2 cents. I know you have thousands of pieces and you paint several more a day but I would revolve between here and conceptart as well as other sites just to get more recognition on one piece as they are all fantastic!

Again 5 stars on this one!

Thank you Christian for the useful advice.

I think you are right, I am perhaps a bit overxealous posting my works because I have so many and have never had a place to exhibit them where they actually get commented on.

Thank you for your comments, all of you, I'm very grateful that you are enjoying my art and never expected beyond my wildest dreams for my pieces to have such an impact here.

I also appreciate those of you who have added my gallery to your favorites and continue to support me and encourage me to post more.

I think I will keep posting to my gallery but not to the 2d showcase every single day. I think Christian is correct about spacing them out further so that they get time to be recognized and when I feel that the veiws have tapered off, then I will post a new piece.

Alpha Theta was orginally titled Theta until I did the symetircal study and titled it Alpha Theta. Perhaps I will do a version called Alpha Theta Delta which will connect all 3 of the stages of sleep, Delta being the most detailed and dreamlike.

Thank you again for your kind words on this piece.

Best,

Ken David Matheson
