View Full Version : Nodal Pan tracking in After Effects question
visualchaosfx 08-26-2007, 05:47 AM How do I go about tracking a nodal pan in After Effects? I'm doing a sky replacement and I'm trying to track the source footage so that I can apply it to my cloud layer.

This should be pretty simple, just using the regular tracking tools, unless you have some wildly handheld crazy footage, in which case it's certainly still possible, it's just not easy.
Andrew Kramer has posted at least 2 tutorials on sky removal

and I have a few up regarding tracking

Hey Mack,
Thanks for the links. I forgot about the tutes on your website. I followed Andrews sky replacement tut and it works like a charm getting rid of the washed out sky. I think a couple of things that could have improved my sky replacement shot was a better DV camera and shooting where trees are close. I had a bitch of a time trying to make adjustments to make the edges of the trees not seem so pixelated. You can view the test here:
