hi everyone!

i am having a quality problem with one of my renders i just cannot get rid of.
the setup is as follows:
text layer -> 100 frame fade in -> 2 animator effects (evaporate and transporter) on top of eachother.
the corresponding lossless mpeg2-dvd animation shows some ugly output the reminds me of a typical banding problem related to poor image quality. the nebula like effect on the letters is not smooth but shows ugly bands.

i tried to screenshot the image and post it. the problem is that after saving the output to jpg the images turns completely black --- whyever :)

ps: i applied a 79 percent stretch on the layer
pps: 16bit activated

any clues?

thanx markus

MPEG-II isn't lossless and it's always limited to 8bpc. Some banding is inevitable, but you should be able to minimize it if you obbey the Dos and Don'ts for MPEG-II. If you need to post a snapshot, run your clip in a normal software DVD player and push the snapshot button (i.e. P as in "take photo" for WinDVD).
