Did a search for "Script10: Out of data map entries!"

The question was:

I'm getting the "Script10:Out of data map entries!" error about every 60 seconds or so and it starting to drive me completely up the wall. I've searched and searched everywhere and can't for the life of me find a solution to this.

Can I at least stop Painter from automatically recording the scripts?

Found an answer on 04-05-2005 which says:

Quit Painter IX and delete the Painter Script Data file from the respective 'Users' sub folder;
/Users/[username]/Library/Application Support/Corel/Painter IX/Painter Script Data

When you re-launch Painter IX, a new 'User' Painter Script Data file will be automatically created (and hopefully no more error messages).

But after doing this I still get the error. It's terribly annoying as I have to stop work every few seconds.

I'm using Painter IX.5 on a Power Mac G5.

My question is at least as much a question about how to find things on the Mac as it is to solve this problem as I'm pretty green on both the Mac and in Painter.

How do I metodically find:

/Users/[username]/Library/Application Support/Corel/Painter IX/Painter Script Data All I did is go to Applications/Corel Painter IX. Found the Painter Script Data and dragged it to the Desktop temporarily until I know what to do. The rest of the directions I followed precisely.

Thanks for considering this problem. And suggestions/solutions are most welcome and appreciated.

Hi,

Corel Painter IX and Corel Painter X work with files in two locations:
The Corel Painter IX application/program folder where the program is installed. This folder is, as far as Corel Painter is concerned, read only. Since Painter refers to this folder for the default brush library and other default libraries (default meaning those that were installed with the program), those folders and files need to remain in the Corel Painter IX application/program folder. This means you'll need to move the Painter Script Data file, you moved from your Painter IX application/program folder to the trash can, back to the Painter IX application/program folder.

The Corel Painter IX User folder where Painter automatically stores the user's custom preferences, custom settings, custom brushes and certain files that Painter automatically creates when we use a brush category and its brush variants. When the Painter Script Data file (Mac) or Painter.SSD file (Windows) becomes corrupted, we need to delete it from the Corel Painter IX User folder.

The next time Painter is launched, a new Painter Script Data file (Mac) or Painter.SSD file (Windows) is automatically created by Painter from the Corel Painter IX application/program folder's default Painter Script Data file (Mac) or default Painter.SSD file (Windows), and the automatically generated file is placed in the Corel Painter IX User folder.

Below are the paths to both the Corel Painter IX application/program folder and the Corel Painter IX User folder, for both Mac and Windows users:

Default path to the Painter IX (IX 9.1 and IX.5) Application/Program folder:

Mac - Applications > Corel Painter IX

Windows - Program Files > Corel > Corel Painter IX

Default path to the Painter IX (IX 9.1 and IX.5) User folder:

Mac - Users > [User Name] > Library > Application Support > Corel > Painter IX

Windows - Documents and Settings > [User Name] > Application Data > Corel > Painter IX

Good luck!

Jinny,

Thanks. Isn't easy and we'll see if the problem is solved. I went to the Finder: Library> Application Support> Painter Script Data.

First I put the Painter Script Data file back into the Corel Painter Applications Folder. Then once I found the Painter IX User Folder, and the Painter Script Data file in there, I took it out. Still have it in a new folder on the Desktop in case.

I had quit Painter and once all this was done restarted and no longer see the

Script10: Out of data map entries!

So thanks again. :)
