View Full Version : making rocks / cliffs
Mafia 04-01-2003, 05:28 AM hi, i am trying to make a rock face, or cliff..
what i was wondering is, after ive built the main shape from from a poly sheet, is there some tool to randomly bump the object -
basically i can get the effect i want by using the sculpt tool, but it would be much quicker with some kind of random "add noise" tool
is there such a thing?
cheers!

Are you looking for something like this ?
I first made a vertical nurbs face which had like a zig zag patern when looked at from above, then i turned it into a soft body and used some turbalance to mix it up abit and then deleted history.
Then i tool the top iso extruded it back so i had a horizontal plane made it a soft body added some turbalance and the deleted history.
Then i just attached the to planes together.

You can easely add a bump to your shader.
To change the geometry you may want to use the displacement. Be carefull with the tesselation.
Then you may also convert 2 displacement
modify/convert/displacement to polygons
