Hi everyone!!

Here's a quick illustration of my idea for this challenge... The dream of penguins has been to be able to fly and finally this one achieved that...

Well, I decided to change the project name by "The Great Flight"...it seems more suitable

here's Leo, the starring character: Leo is a young penguin looking for new emotions to experience... he has always wanted to fly then he build a rocket to achieve his dream...

I start modeling a basic shape of penguin, then, step by step, I added details to the face and body ...still lot of work

Hey nice modeling Maxter :) Did you use pelt or something for the UV wrapping, or is it manual? And your lighting rig for the render is nice, that yours? Good work.

Trickz: thanks man... I use max and unfold for unwrapping... for lighting I use one area spot and a skylight with mental ray and final gather:thumbsup:

Well, here's the rocket model finished. I added more details... another gas tank, a control panel, analog meters, tubes and other parts...

next step: unwrapping and texturing

Here's the background i've been working.. i created a displacement map to distort geometry, then i used procedural shaders and masking to create surface

hey, nice landscape and the model of the penguin is very nice too! i like it because it doesnt look very smart but quite crazy haha
anyways, are you using dreamscape or something like that for the mountains?
it looks quite interesting =)

I added some detail in zbrush, then time to rigging-skinning work and finally the penguin model is finished!

Hey Fabio, great enviorment for Leo !! really cool !! Perhaps a bit more peaks on the top of the rocks, but its only a personal thing :D Leo model is awesome my friend !! I love his goggles! great touch !! and cant wait to watch the Leo´s great flight !! Mucha suerte amigo!! :beer:

Great work so far! I kind of prefered the cartoony look of the character at first stages,though... I suppose it´s just a matter of likes, anyway. cool stuff here!

Here's some of the texturing work... Diffuse maps were done in zbrush and photoshop.... ambient occlusion, specular and bumps maps are combined to produce some effects in diffuse map... normal maps were created from geometry details in zbrush

glad you got your piece submitted in time. everything is modeled so well. so what did you do to make that terraing? was that vue?

Glad you made the deadline Max, would have been a shame. Cool piece, the texturing and modeling is very nice. Landscape is well done too. Yes time for a break and some fun ;)
