View Full Version : Laser Gun Animation WIP
I know this is stupid cause I never finish anything, but here is a test animation of a part of a laser guns barrel extending to fire a plasma blast. Its going to be an arm attachment for an android. Ill put some concept work Up for it later, but for now Im going to work on the plasma bullets. :) any comments / criticism is appreciate as always.

very cool.
You should make each of the tiles move out and have them spin, with the top and bottom groups spinning in opposite directions, almost as if it's charging up it's energy
Thats a good idea, I thought it was kinda lacking movement. It probally wont be hard at all to do either, in fact I just did it :). I'm going to start it rendering tonight after I finish the plasma projectile.
I probally should have explained that the gun still uses pressure, except its from plasma. And not like in those radio shack plasma balls, Im talking the real stuff. Now I just need an explanation of how it can withstand it :)
Here is the Projectile Ive been talking about. I know it looks bad but its such a small detail in the scene. And plus I just figured out how to make that worn edge look when I finished the last extrude at the top. So it could look alot cooler, but Im thinking it would be a waste of time.
Here is a Picture of the start of the gun, not as cool as the animation, but oh well.

Polymer. You can do anything with Polymer.
ndat, I just got hosting with e-rice.net that seems really cool. (Mine is mechanolatry.com, but there's almost nothing there so far.) It's only $10/year for 150 megs. Pretty sweet. You have to have your own domain though, so that might cost you another $8 on godaddy.com.
I'd love to see your vid. The gun and bullet look good.
A crapy update :) , Ill reply to your replies tomorrow. not enough time right now. Uhhh the bullets now a missile powered by plasma pressure. A polymer probably wouldn’t work because the temperature of plasma rages from 2,000 to 50,000,000 Celsius. However I did see something on the science channel where it was possible to contain the heat and EXTREME pressure so it will work.

I'm a Star Trek fan - it doesn't have to work, it just has to sound good...
You want a honeycombed hardened polymer waveguide on it, that's what you want. :wip:
