Hey guys

Remember this thread.
http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~polycount/ubb/Forum2/HTML/005637.html

Well I wanted to show you the model that Louis Lu did, that got him the job at Legend. He is know our character modeller and skinner. Yay!

Louis did this chick in a week from top to bottom. Very fast. His mesh was really tight and easily animated. He even came in under the polycount of 3k. Everyone at Legend was very impressed with the quality of his work and we think he is a nice guy as well (very important). So now he is my partner in crime. I couldnt be happier.

be sure and check out his site www.ln3d.com (http://www.ln3d.com)

Hey I also revamped the 3d section on my site. Its now dedicated to you guys. Check it out if you get a chance.www.hawkprey.com (http://www.hawkprey.com)

Now get back to work!

awesome, thats a great model! i think its great too that you used the forums to bring the game community together like that. I hope whoever wins the gameart comp here on cgtalk, picks a design of yours as the theme for the next comp!

a nice model here.

but a week, but doesnt that seem like a long time to work on one character.

whats the usual time frame that a person gets to model and skin a character for a game.

for a character of that quality, thats ok.

a character can be built and textured in a couple days,
but in most cases its not going to be top notch, 100% perfect.

the model above is as close to that as your gonna get,
and a week isnt even that long

you have inspired me to try my hand at game art

ya Louis is freaking fast!

He is modelling 3-4k characters in a day and half in some cases. I cant churn out the model sheets fast enough.

When he came to us he was doing contract work. He was modelling and texturing a character a day! From scratch! We keep telling him to slow the hell down.

ahahhaha

It would be great to see the texture file. All of us trying to improve on these skills would apreciate it, I bet.

My only crit of it is that in the neck and arms she looks really lean and sexy. But then the legs look kinda stocky and chubby. I think giving her those braces that make her ankles look 'fat' is what really draws my eyes to the curves.

Very nice work. The only critique I'd make would be that the "bosums" appear to hang a bit low on her torso, making her appear older than what was probably intended.

Also The lighting on the skin from the neck down seems to be brighter than the clothing.... like the two were lit separately. That's all I see changeable about it. Not every chick has to be "anime"perky in the areas of interest:D

Awesome job! Hey lets see the mesh! And for the comments already made this is actually's Tweaky's mom not Tweaky she's supposed to look like that since she's older.

Damn what a team you guys are gonna make !

This model looks much better than a lot of professional high poly characters I've seen. And I think he's a very lucky guy to be able to work with such inspiring concept sheets. I'm always on the lookout for inspiring concept art and I've always wanted to get my hands on one of your characters. Gonna be hard to do as well as Louis, though.
Congrats to you two. This is just beautiful

I'd like to see the textures and the wireframe. It would be very comprehensive to know wich softwares were used for the production. And how do you guys produce a character nowdays? Do you use only photoshop for texturing?
