I was inspired by all the great orc paintings everyone's been doing over at conceptart.org (Especially John Mueller's post), so I thought I would do one as well. Instead of going with the normal green flesh I went with what you see here.
He was a lot of fun to paint and is a character I'd like to revisit at some point.
Comments are always welcome.

Did you know that it was Blizzard that made 'em green in WarCraft.. So originally they're as you've illustrated or whatever your imagine can forge! ;)

Good work!
I don't think Blizzard is to blame for green orcs ;)
They have been pretty damn green in the Games Workshop's Warhammer miniature game since the 80's I think.

Hey, thanks everyone for the great comments!!!
heh, It's not a low poly model. This took me about 2 hours to digitally paint. It was extremely fun and was a great break from EF II. :)
Thanks again everyone.

Hmm. his chin has too much bumps. One would be enough I think. But within 2 hours - Great!
Off Topic:
Hey, Bobo what's with this 'relalistic human skin' on Darth Maul's face on your site? Could you give some guidelines how to do it?
I would go for the healing brush tool, get a pic of a body buider, then make use of the tool. And you?

Wrong, there are discriptions of green orcs in Tolkiens books as well as in Warhammer 40K and other sources. A ton of these came out way before Blizzard thought of orcs.

I cant recall Tolkien picturing the orcs as green, but GW has made them green since 75. (or when did they relase the first orcs? ) Anyway i like that piece alot, however i find that little hair he got very disturbing :p

Incredibly talented and you know it ;) the only thing that bugs me is the representation of the fangs, they look flat and somewhat "painted" on if you know what I mean, but nonetheless awesome work

Hey folks
Like it was said before, it's a great art piece. I saved it for further use of learning how to draw so great.
But to me, this dude looks more like a vampire from Buffy than an orc. I mean, the fangs and the tiny yellow eyes remind me alot of a vampire.
Still it's great work
