Anybody out there use Cinema with Vue d'Sprit? I'd like to somehow combine the two in animations, but not sure how. I need not too complicated way of making realistic landscapes complete with skies, trees, rocks, etc.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

hmm just make sure your textures match up.

I have seen some pretty nasty looking work done with poser figures and Vue.

These might get you started--but there isnt really an instant landscape module like Bryce or Vue in C4d. You could export your grayscale terrain elevation maps and use them on a relief object in C4d--assuming that Vue exports el. maps.

Oxygen 2 should be coming around sometime soon, yeah?
The pics I saw from it looked pretty nice, pretty sweet atmospheric effects and things.
I think that would prolly be easier than trying to get animated C4D files into Vue,
and then making it all look good :)

You have the ability in bryce to export your terrain elevation maps and procedural textures to bitmap. The terrains can be exported in a few different model formats as well.

You can always take a screen capture of the elevation grayscale map while in the terrain editor, then import it into a relief object in C4d.

JoelD: whats your opinion on importing an exported model from bryce? is it to high poly count, impractical...or you do it all the time?
thanks man...

Actually I wouldnt do that unless I had to as the poly count is kinda ridiculous. Exporting the elevation maps of your terrains and importing them in to a relief object is the best way to go in my opinion. Theres a good tutorial link in my earlier post explaining how to work with a relief object.

top i thought you might say that the poly count was way off...damn..:wip:
but the relief map (screenshot) sounds cool enough....just explain to me how you get the textures out. lets say i get the relief...bang that into c4d...what about the texture to make it look like a landscape? (something about procedurals...can you export them or do i screen shot top view....dunno what i'm doing...errh as you might have gathered...and unfortunately not got bryce in front of me at moment...:bounce: :wip:

You can export your procedural texture to a bitmap file. Unfortunately once thats done, its no longer a procedural.

Look at the tutorial links above. Theres some very good recipes for procedural landscape texturing in cinema 4d. Mostly to do with SLA fusion.

Here it is again:

http://land.liquid-light.org/

There are other tricks, buit dont have time at the momtent to run through it.

JoelD: yup thanks man...i was being particular to bryce to cinema tactics....its ok man i wasn't ignoring the link. you answered my question with the procedural to bitmap and that mesh/model is erhhh not very good.
that said any tactics you got...would be cool.

bobzilla: i'm really so bud...see to have hijacked your thread here a bit with the ole bryce question but i got carried away there for a minute...:wip:

oooh an i think you'll find its...ozone 2
http://www.e-onsoftware.com/Products/Ozone2.0/Cinema4DPR.php

unless there is something out there called oxygen...if there is lemme know what its all about will ya...

No problem! Any information is good information. We're all learning something...
