Great job, I like the overall style, allthough it eyes a bit cartoony. The only things I don't like are: The gravity on the door and the weird signs above the door. I'd rather see some normal text there, I think..

Looks good. I like it. The gravity on the door could be an better design, but good nevertheless.

(better than I can do at the mo' ;) )

feels a little dark and little flat. maybe push the shadows harder or try to introduce some more color.

I dig it!!! Great use of textures and low poly count! You've put the details in the right places.

Very inspiring!

Ancient-Pig your texturing ability is great and the model uses it's triangles very affeiciant (now many triangles?),

great stuff man..

nice object, Just want to critizise on thing:

you used a simple plane for the walls, but it has a very detailed roof.
I don't think, the roof is more important than the walls, especially if you want to use it in a game (low polycount).
With the roof being...on top of a building, you won't recognize it by just passing by in a fight or similar (3d shooters, jump/run).
But you WILL see the difference if the walls have small stones and bricks coming out of the basic shape.

Think about it next time you model anything for a game, nevertheless nice work indeed :D!

This is one of the things I really like about this model, actually.

When modelling lo-poly for games, I think the place you'll really notice a high or low poly-count, is along the EDGES of objects, not in the middle of a surface that's supposed to be flat anyway.

That's why I think it's good to see the roof has some poly details, because otherwise the edge of the roof would just be one, straight line.

The walls, I think, is an excellent place to save polys, because we have those stone-thingies (don't know what to call them - they look like book supports :)) to "hide" the perfectly straight edges of the walls.

I think the choises of where to put the poly details are just right.

Though, you could argue that if the roof would only be seen from below (as in a 1st person 3D shooter), you could achieve the "look" of detailed edges, by faking it with a transparency map.

Oh well, that's my opinion! ;)

good points, I think you are right with your opinion about the edges of a model :)

plus: It would be boring if everxone had the same opinion ;)

He-he-he... so true! ;) -Looking around newsgroups - and just this very forum - it's amazing how some people will go at one another over varying opinions.... I guess that the everlasting curse of on-line debating...

...Sorry, OT!

ok first thing i noticed...Where's the MOSS!?
Pretty clean looking old stone. Old enough to be cracked by water and age...but no moss?
I guess grounds keeper Willie has been doing a real good job cleaning the place. hehe
Good looking model...just dirty it up.

Nice model and texture job. The ONLY that caught me funny was the great detail work on everything but the door and the wall around it. All I would do is make a more detaliled looking door, not to say you should remove the blood stain but up the detaling around and underneath it. Possibly add some more cracks to the door frame also. Great job.

Hey ancient-pig, the model looks good!
There is something about it that makes it look like a miniatyre though. I think it's because the steps are rather large compared to the rest. Maybe making the stair narrower and having 3 or 4 steps in the stair would do it.
