View Full Version : possible bug with light/merge object?
cgbinho 03-31-2003, 05:27 PM When I merge any object from another scene into my current scene, i get strange things happening with the lighting when i render.. looks like all lights got high multiplier values
i tried to low the global lighting color and value in the "enviroment" dialog, but the scene doesn't look like the way it was before.. someone help me please?? i tried importing several times..
I tried to delete all light sources, and import again, but even whithout lights in the scene, i get the bright light shining on the scene
possible bug? :\
before import object:

I can't see the images, only red x's...
Could you try importing your scene with no lights, then make a light (any light) manually, and turn it off. Do you still get weird lights anywhere then?
I suspect the mysterious "there's light even when there's no lights" thing comes from MAX enabling its default lighting.. let's at least get that solved first, then move on to why you apparantly can't successfully import light from the scene.

hi gaggle,
i think i didn't explained right... i'm not triyng to import lights
now i know what object that I import makes the lighting so bright, but when i delete him from the scene, the bright light continues... maybe some corruption on the file.. i don't know
and the images, i can see them.. anybody else don't see them too?
If you think you have a corrupted file 'save selected' the geometry and open and resave the new file.

i'm deleting each merged object until i find witch one is causing this "bright light" ....... will take a while, but i can't see another way :\
edit:
problem solved.
oh well. i did not made any change in the file and now appears to be normal now.... :surprised
re-edit:
I just re-opened the file and got the light problem back :surprised

Oh--- kaaaay.
Hm.
Just to make sure, you're sure you've turned off all your lights? Ie. you go into the Select By Name dialogbox, filter only light-objects, and those in the list are all in their off position?
Do you have any Advanced Lighting going on?, radiosity, gi, 3rd party rendere?
Is it actual light or could it be a self-illuminated material or something?
And just to make sure again: This odd light shows up in the rendere right? How about in the viewports?

Well I'll be damned.
Good that you managed to solve it cgbinho! Our little story here ends on a happy note, yet we also know that the true source of the problem was never uncovered, so it must still be out there.. lurking.. waiting to strike again. Dum dum DUUUMM!
Ahem
