BluesManJF 03-31-2003, 04:53 PM Hi everybody!
im a new user here too!
but iīve been watching the site for a long time!
so...
this is the car that i have on my garage!
and itīs the my first car in 3d too.
iīve used splines to do the body.
So..
the car isnīs complete.. but i want your opnion..
the textures arenīs these.. cose the right one are at home(im on my job now :) )
dont look at the cenary... this is only a test..
at home i did the car and have used some hdr images..
the results were really interesting, but it costs a long time.. and i prefer do the right materials and lighting only when the car will be complete.
ahhhhhh
the tire..
i did the tire.. you can look the white objetc...
i forgot the name of that..
can you send ou post some references of that?
i dont have ideas of how that thing is... (cose the tire of the original car - that iīve at home - is diferent from that).
hope you can help me.
thanks a lot!
* ps - this model is low poly...

hi everybody!
so..
i have no time yet to update the car body.. but i have some new images of it..
but i think is too reflective.. and the reflection is strange..
I put a "metal" material with a falloff map(from black to white) at the difuse color and the same map at the "self ilumination".
I have a falloff map at the reflection guide and this map(that goes from black to white) has a raytrace map at the white color..
somebody can give me a tip about it?
thanks a lot!!!!
http://www.artnet.com.br/~cledson/etc/escb.jpg
and here is the same model..but with the card body material using no difuse and self ilumination maps...
http://www.artnet.com.br/~cledson/etc/escc.jpg
im not worried about the ilumination for a while, cose the model isnt finished.. and i dont have a big computer to render with everything on every time that i wanna check something..
so..
hope some posts..

Its a good start on a car, but it seems rather boxey. I wish I had reference to point you too, sorry. Keep going with it, with more hardware it'll be more diversified.

this car is my car... i dont have any blue print..
i draw it some day at the garage and start after in the computer..
i think you wanna say the the car is too hard..
but the car is like this..it doesnt have many curves.
look a picture from him
http://www.predomecar.hpg.ig.com.br/a_forde_escortxr387.jpg
(thereīs only one diference between this reference and my model..
the tire... the rest is the same(ah.. except by the color- mine is white)
can you give me a help about the car body material?

hi again..
one more little update..
i made the lights and some other little things..
ive changed the environment material but the results were bad..
look at the stranges reflections... i think its because the map is little (800x800)..
i still dont use some gi or other things like that cose my computer have only 256mb of ram... and for now the file is really hard to load!
so.. thanks a lot..
hope some posts this time!

eyup there. would have posted earlier on this one as I love xr3's but been v.busy in the offis. hey ho!
this is looking alreet. heres a few pointers I hope you'll get round to amending.
your missing doors and doorhandles!! If your modelling a modified car, then maybe you could add a door with a smoothed handle or something. check out some modmags to see what I mean. There was a sweet red n yellow escort in fast car (or might have been revs or one of the many mags on the market!) that would have given you some ideas.
your side mirrors could be amended, they look a little like a cube with a poly extrusion out the side and a bevel added. might just be the camera angle on this one tho as the mirrors are very straightforward on the escort anyway. M3 mirrors are the way to go sir! :)
Again, theres a lack of bonnet. It looks like there's no possible way to get into the engine! might wanna amend this one.
overall tho, its looking ok, but I reckon adding the finer details will certainly help.
keep working on it, I'll make sure I get round to replying!
:p
all the best,

good stuff man. keep workin on it - like I said, I'll make sure I post replies to it. I haven't modelled a motor in years and I'm really tempted to model an old modified honda Civic for a bit o fun. :bounce:

hi everybody
so.. more updates..
i decided to change the mirros.. so they doesnt apear at this picture..
the lights..
they are black cose they are with the ID incorrect(like the oval FORD symbol at the front of the car..).. but i only saw that when the render was almost finished..
so i'll correct it later..
the question that i have is.. look at the holes at the sides of the door...
is really bad..
how can i fix that?
changing the weight of the vertices? i already try it.. but thers no much result..
so.. hope somebody to give a help..
thanks..
*ps.. i turned off all the raytraced maps at the body and window to make the render fast. If i get a way to correct the problem at the door, ill put everything again..
thanks!

the door seams look ok to me, are you talking about the aliasing?
are your windows one piece along with the car body? maybe you should remove those faces and put in windows as seperate objects so the edges don't get smoothed and won't look so bulgy.
are you going to make the side trim too?

yes.. im talking about it... the aliasing...
i dont know how to correct that..
yes..the windows are...
i tried to put more weight in the vertices at the corners of window.. but it seems that I only get better results when meshsmooth is set to "classic"... but if its set to classic, the rest of the car looks bad..
ill gonna make the side trim too...there are some work to do before i really finish..
thanks a lot for your help!
