I every body, im new on CG

I am character fineller and I try somes stuffs in rigging with Maya 7. But a have a problem, I want to do the strech and squash on a arm or a spine. Where can I found a tutorial on that...because actually I try to do this job with expression but that doesn't work properly. I know this is possible in many ways. Like with the IK Spline Handle Tool in the skeleton menu.
This function is not natural for the rig, than it is hard to find information about that...but I Know it's exist.

So If you guys have an idea, about a tutorial or another thing about the Strech and squash.
Let me know. Thanks for your help already.

You could make a regular rig, then parent some target bones to the shoulder, elbow and wrist.
If you make the regular arm an IK chain, you can put the arm into position with one IK controller bone.
If you then overlay stretchy bones on the upper and forearm, which are parented/stretched to the wrist/elbow/shoulder helper bones, you can make the arm stretch by using these stretchy bones as deformers and moving the wrist/elbow/shoulder helper bones after positioning the arm. If you also parent the hand bones to the rig you can also stretch the length of the arm.... well i mean you can make the forearm longer as well...

That's one way that should work.... non application specific, ... i think...
