View Full Version : wrong occlusion in LOD-blended areas (3delight)

Hi Guys,

i played around with renderman's level of detail feature in 3delight. Works great so far.

Then I tried to render an ambient occlusion pass. It looks good exept the areas where two detail levels are blended together. There I get a very dark occlusion result. Apparently two levels of letail are occluding themselves in the blended regions.

How can I work around this?

One option may be to make the detail blend range = 0.

...
DetailRange [4000 4000 8000 80000]...
DetailRange [8000 8000 1e38 1e38]...
...

So my high-detail geo "switches" to my mid-detail geo, but that is not desirable.

Has somebody experience with that and has suggestions for me?

p.s. I'd like to put images here. Is there a way to do it directly or do I have to put them to some web link?
