View Full Version : Balloon string
zook10 08-20-2007, 11:30 AM I have to model a balloon floating down a street, and it needs to have a bit of string dangling from it. I was wondering what the best way to do this was? Cloth perhaps?
I am using the XL bundle.

if you have the hair module, then spline dynamics would be the ideal, you can constrain one end to the balloon and the other can either hang free or constrain to say a hand.

Unfortunately I don't have the hair module - cost too much. I didn't realise you could use the hair module for this sort of thing.

You can use bones/joints with IK chains where you have a vibrate tag on the target.
here is a file that explains it better than words:

Thaks Michael - that's the sort of thing I had in mind. I think the balloon will be free floating so won't need to worry about someone carrying it.
I'll dissect the file and see how it works.
