Smooth problem

Normally, it should allow you to change the division settings after you have applied a smooth operation, but generally, you will not get good results because the smooth operation works on a given range of faces only (say 1-50), so if you increase the divisions so that the object ends up with 200 polygons, only the first 50 of them will be smoothed and not the rest.

I believe there is a way to make this work flawlessly, but it involves manually changing nodes and connections in the hypergraph. If you are interested, let me know, and I'd be happy to post a quick tutorial on doing this. :)

Well it was working for a while then it stopped working i was only going between 1 and 0 to get a quick idea to see what it would look like smoothed.

Are you putting a new smooth on to check it? I have found that after doing tweaks, the smooth that i put on no longer works properly when i increase the smoothing. Makes sense too, cos of the whole history thing - the tweaks were done after the smooth, etc.

Ohh, I completely misunderstood your question. You were referring to the subdivision setting on the smooth input node. I thought you were talking about division settings in the create node of a polygonal object. :)

In that case, then as Iricho suggested, it might be due to some additional history nodes interferring with the smooth operation, other than that, can't think of what else might be wrong. If you want, tell me how your history nodes are setup, and I may be able to help you figure out how to restore that setting's functionality. :)

Well i have tried deleting the history so its just a dumb poly objecy then going smooth.

Which is fine i get a smoothed object but when i go to change the divisions up and down nothing happens :(
