View Full Version : Cybernetic Sniper
ThunderTurtle 03-31-2003, 06:50 AM Here is my first WIP head shot of the new character i'm working on. Concept is by a friend of mine(Josh). He is a futuristic sniper with some cybernetic enhancements, Probobly some kind of desert armor/camo. Even though he is futuristic a lot of the armor and weapon designs are based on older WWII style equipment. Still a good bit of work to go on the head, most notably on the ears. Much of his face will be be covered by a re-breather type appatratus, but i'm still going to work in a good bit of detail of the mouth area. Hopfully I should have plenty more on this in the near future.

Very nice, but get rid of the seam! :) Still very cool though.

Thanks for the comments guys.. that seam will dissapear as soon as I weld the head together.. Trying diffrent concepts with some of his gear. Here's a possible variation on his breather.

i thought the same thing myself, and oddly enough i had the box in my lap.
him being a sniper and all, it would seem odd to have a big bulky breathing apparatus on his face when he's trying to lean onto a stock and look thru a scope.
otherwise great job

Well the whole sniper issue is up for debate on the concept, nevertheless here is an update trying some stuff with the armor. The armor is multi-layered and this is the start on the top. ideas and comments welcome.

unoriginal
if youre using 3DS max you could use symmetry modifier...then you wouldnt have to weld it...works better.
nice modelling although its really nothing unorthodox. but the modelling is nice!

all this 'realistic' 3d is just like all the heavy metal in the 80s with all the mad solos and guitar players who could play 30 notes a second or something stupid. people get bored of it and soon something simple catches their imagination, like nirvana did - technical skill is nothing without an imagination to back it up. i have seen this same type of character many times before, even on this forum and i'm not impressed at all.

Hmmm i dont think so today most people try to give their modells another looks( smooth cybernetic cool ect.) I think this is much different then many things that i saw in the last time and thats maybe why people dont get rid of it if u look at fashion the same style comes back someday.
PS:but that music really suxxx:airguitar

This so reminds me of the PA challenge, Meemoorieees.
Nice detailing, just enough. I am all for detailing but it bothers me when people go too crazy. I really like your current amount.
Good modeling to you.

I really love this, despite what another might say. No doubt I have seen similar concepts, but you add an edge to it, your own style. It looks great, awesome modeling.
Maybe he isn't trying to demonstrate his full potential for creativeness here, but he is demonstrating his great skill in modeling

Thanks for all the comments guys. I definitly agree that the concept needs to be push to something a little more bizzare and i'll work on that as I go. This model is just for personal practice and enjoyment, but all ideas and comments are always welcome. I'll post up some wires for those who asked and hopefully have an update on it later tonight. Keep 'em coming.
