Hey all....it seems after a few system upgrades i suddenly have some serious sleepy Maya issues....

old setup:

Win2K Pro
Geforce4 Ti4200 64mb
Maya 4.0

new setup:

XP Pro SP1
Quadro FX1000
Maya 4.5

the rest of the system has remained the same. Now all the sudden in 4.5 it seems as if the UI is much more sluggish, the marker menus pause before opening and such. And if i switch selection modes and try to tumble, it pauses for a second. Performance in other apps seems to be the same, however i do not beat on them as much so the difference may not be perceptible.

I've tried both the latest nvidia drivers and the older 28.xx that is A|W certified, behavior is identical between the two. Any ideas? Is this an XP issue? I doubt it since 4.5 is plenty fast on the machines at work. (which are similarly equipped, but with Wildcats).

Have you updated from win2k to winxp or you have formated your drive before installing Xp.?

I did format, however i didnt do a low-level write to zeros style format....just the quickie one during installation.

Do you have the latest chipset drivers? Is your graphics card on agp 4x or 2x...or 8x? The idea of a low level format is nice, I know I always like to do them, but hopefully we can figure it out without having to resort to that.

Are there any settings inside Maya (i don't use it myself) to allow different renderings..ie d3d, OpenGL, software etc.? I might be grabbing it straws there but worth a look at least.
