:wavey: Hi all !

I have been working in the las 3 days in this model which is like 10% finish.

I have focus my mind in trying to get a good and clean model (all of them in quad ) since I don't like using bump maps as my last resurce to make my character look in good shape (im talking about the muscles ) This model doesn't have any texture, any displace map or bump map.

I have been working details in the abdomen area and the thighs, nothing around the navel, nothing around the arms or legs only some of the muscles around the thighs. Everything else is more than the sculpy model. step 2.

a decent start... check your proportions... go grab an anatomy book and really look at how the muscles are supposed to connect... right now a lot of it looks kinda wishy washy, like you don't really know what the muscles are supposed to look like... and just guessed from memory. post again once you've got the anatomy working

Thanxs for your comment.. but I have to say something else about the anatomy... YES I'm kinda guessing where r the muscles goin, but also this is an Alien Form ok, so the anatomy doesnt have to match the human anatomy... this is my first model and im getting on my feets on max, when I finally finish this one I will start another one, more human like, so people can crytict more about the anatomy ...

PS... I do have anatomy books... :airguitar

hey, dont know what program you are using, but if you look at the 'Sub D' thread in 3ds max forum you can see a good discussion on clean meshes adn quads. basicly the good info in there is what you can do where its ok not to have a quad.

cause in some situations you dont want to put tons of effort into rerouting an edge loop to get rid of one tri. anyway hope it helps, it is a lot of theory so it applies all 3d engines

Thanxs for taking the time to post a comment Chaos... Im using 3D studio Max 5.0.0 and using box modeling. What you just said helps me a lot because I was thinking that a character should be 99% quad... is this true... cuz im having a hard time whith some of the 3 or 5 vertices poligons ...:airguitar

Well, it is definitely improving :)

I still think that apart from the strange anatomy, the model needs a lot more detailing. I can see that you are starting to add more detail here and there, but you need to start applying that concept across the board - at the moment, it looks too much like one of those little rubbery bendy toys you can buy.

With regards to the actual anatomy, yeah it's all well and true that this is not a human, and therefore doesn't need human-like anatomy, but nevertheless, the anatomy here doesn't really make much sense. It is unlikely that such a creature would evolve - parts of it need to be adjusted.

The feet look really uncomfortable - you need to adjust them to be believable. Especially the heel part. The feet are also too long to be flat footed - if a creature had such long feet, walking and running would be EXTREMELY difficult. It is more likely that the feet would be bent in some way, like a animal with long paws. This is the kind of thing that people mean when they say you need to fix the anatomy. Anatomy doesn't just refer to human structure :)

You also really need to sort out the pelvic and rear areas, as they do not seem very well suited to accomodating any organs or hip structures.

You must also avoid extending shapes and leaving grooves running down them, like what has happened in the area below the abs - you are getting some nasty grooves in your polys there from some uneven vertices. Try and round those areas out a little.

The arms also need loads of work, but I presume you are still getting to that. The same with the hands.

Also, if you are going for an alien, don't have such a humanoid face ;)

Try making a more unusual head design :)

Interesting ! :D

Ok, I will make some more changes in the anatomy of the figure... im going to make it look more like a creature...

But Im not gonna change his fase at all... just something here and there !!! Thanxs for your time ...:airguitar

Well I want it to look more like human anatomy now, so I started making some changes, so it look more humanoid. I started softing the legs muscles and stomach, adding a navel and work some more in the feets. :airguitar
