View Full Version : Business Card (design)
aazimkhan 03-30-2003, 08:36 PM Hello to all!
I am looking for some feed back on my card design.
This card will be printed on transparent sheets. So the white part is all see-thru.
I wold love to hear any C&C on the design and also some advice on how to print.

the card doesn't say what you're trying to get hired to do... digital artist is a vague thing... be more specific... design wise the card is somewhat abnoxious... try to put some style into it, not making it so internet pop up ish... look at a site like sdbarber.com or the scratchpost.com for ideas

Where do you want print this? At your home on a normal printer? Or at professional printer bussiness?
Because a black background like this its little hard to print (at professional business) and on a transparent paper, im sure the result dont be very beautiful.. (i know it because Im working in a professional printer business)
sorry for my bad english :)

I think the design is too busy. You should lose the pics along the bottom - when that card is printed out at 5x9, they are going to look a bit crappy, since they will no doubt lose most of their detail. Apart from the fact that they are cluttering the card up a lot.
Black isn't really a great colour for business cards, as it tends to look cheap. Rather go for a gray or a white, or even a deep blue. Black just usually ends up looking cheap and tacky.
There is no reason for you to put your address on the card unless you have business premises, ie a large studio. Since this is no doubt your card for freelance work, the address is unnecessary.
You should really get an email address other than Hotmail. Hotmail addies just tend to come off as really unprofessional.
Keep the pic of the chopper and the cars though, it looks cool :)

The card designe is very nice and shows (if they are your work) that you are a talented artist.
1 comment i have is that the card screams computer games to me and nothing else.
If you just want to target the games market the designe is perfect. But if you wish to target a wider client base you may want to concider makeing the card less "computer gamey"
Otherwize a very nice card indeed.
Oh 1 other thing, the hotmail account is widely known as a freebee account wetehr you pay for the extra storage or not.
If you wnat to be profesional try and get a web address that looks profesional, i noticed you have a web site, get a e mail account set up for that sight so your e mail will be <yourname>@<yourwebsite>
Seeing hotmail make you look unprofesional

I think there is too much going on on the card... Too much lines, too large text, too much image. There can be too much of a good thing!
I would make more 'white-space', tone down the black and lose either the horizontals or the circle. I think the horizontals are too much because the horizontal divisions are already made by the eye.
Remember always: Less is More. If the card is more 'open', simpler and toned down it will look more professional.
And i agree about the hotmail address...
[edit] oh and lose the clip-art icons for the phone, web etc.. They scream clip-art all over!
Keep it up!

PT osborne: yeah..good point...i`ll change it to a modeler / animator...
Night: I want to print this at a professional print place. The reason i chose Black is because i want this on transparent sheet...so when i make the background black , all my text will be see-thru......and thats the look i want. I saw of card on transparent and it was looking really good..
Leigh: After i read your reply....the card did start looking all filled up and cluttery.....maybe i`ll reduce the address down to just city, province and country...i`ll remove the exact address.
And about the black...i`ll choose a darker tone of some other color that goes well with the picture, also tke of the icons from below.. And i`ll see if i can get a email address for my site.
Obr71: thanks. yes those are my work. I wouldnt put it, if it wasnt. Yeah i`ll definetly change the e-mail address. remove the icons from below and make a bit more room.
erik2003:  I thought clip art icons would look cool. Oh well I`ll change them to the regualer phone,e-mail text.
Hey thanks for all the feedback. I`ll get an update up here soon.
