you could take a picture of one or maybe get one from the internet and create planes and use that picture with an alpha made in photoshop to get near true feathers. in making the alpha remember that black is the color masking or transparency.

i know that. But it is not my problem.
I want the feathers envelop the model truely.
Have soneone said with me use the hair and fur of HairFX. And i tried it but the result is not good.
I think hairFX is useful but i dont know how to use it.
Everyone help me or give ur idea to do it.Thank a lot.

Create a texture that does two things:
1. Is colored like a feather
2. Has a matching alpha layer

Then simply Place them all along where you want the feathers, this will take time but will produce an accurate representation.
