First character of my little scene.
Basically my scene depicts a little girl having tea time with a bunny in a place not usually set for such an occasion. Thats still a tad fuzzy.
Its going to be one hell of a cram session these following weeks.

Just laying out the rest of the comp. The story takes place in a laundry mat where small rabbits emerge from a dryer to be served tea so they can rest. I like the idea of mixing the subtle fantastic with the everyday. A lot of locations came to mind while thinking stuff up, But when you are doing laundry late night drenched by the florescent light you can't help but start to imagine things. Also drawing cute things is not the norm for me.

Just finishing up the modeling for the dryers, as well as trying to decide colors. I tend to go for duller colors with hints of more vibrant colors. But I am willing to break the mold (somewhat). Anyway the gray of the door is going to be lighter and overall the background should be there but not to over powering.
Also alot of great quality work here guys. Very inspiring.

looks really great and atmospheric! i think what would really add to the scene is having one of the washer doors open, and the bunnies actually coming out of it...the idea of the bunnies being created by the build up of cloth material is quite nice :D

Nice work and fun idea  Maybe a little more details, dirt on ground will make the image more alive? And maybe something in the washmachine? Like lothes? Just firing ideas....

Thanks for the comment Nomad.
Just Now I am painting in some detail into the background. Still haven't decided on cloths. Afraid it might take away from the foreground. But I'll play around and see.

Andres, awsome work man! the style is really unique for the pieace and I think it makes it stand out. Even though its simple compositionally, it really gets the point across. The only comment would be - why did you copy me? jaja. I just noticed that my piece is very similar in composition to yours so it was a trip when I saw yours right below my post... pretty strange huh! anyway, great execution and style!

your entry looks fantastic!, like from a high budget anime, fill the scene with more still life elements...

Wow! This is some really cool work! I like the original composition and the 'twisted mood', as you created a quite 'surreal' piece of art. You also got the anime-look into your painting in a very good way - it just works! :)
All the best on the further progress: I'll be looking forward to see the final image!
I like the way the background and foreground are coming together! I love the texture
on the washing machines, and the modeling job is perfect. I think the bunnies
are adorable, and they are integrating a little better than girl with the background. Maybe you can push some more blue\purple into her shadows. Also the anatomy of her right foot needs to be tweaked a bit, the fore-shortening seems a little off. Other than these noodley comments the piece is great, I love the surreal, "Alice in Wonderland", theme. Best of luck with the judging!

really dig the atmosphere on that one! almost like a still frame from some anime...(ha!...i just saw that someone already mentionned it)the cell shading works like a charm with the 3d background...and cool texture on the washing machines....bunnies are very expressive, cute, cudly and ready to please...
agree on the shadow part with JWP, they could be a bit more present...it would add to the strong bleak lighting.
my only note would be to soften the chin area of the girlas it forms almost a continuous line from the back collar of the dress to her forehead...taking away some the double chin and bringing up the line from the right shoulder towards the back of the jaw line would help the intention of having her turning her head towards us....i think.
best of luck !

Jpmonroyal: hahahaha, for a second you had me scarred that we had the same tea party idea! Glade you like.
Kazziu: Thanks! I’ll see what I can do about adding more stuff.
Dutchman: Glad you like the mood and look.
JWP: Hey thanks for the feedback, you are right about the girl needing to fit in more. She isn’t popping out to the point of not fitting but I did feel she still wasn’t there yet. I’ll def bring more background colors into the foreground to unify it more.
Olipaf: Thanks! Good catch on the neck. Glad you like the bunnies, I was debating whether or not to put more in (just to push more strange into it, but I think it works as is for now).
Ashiataka: Thanks a bunch!
Neubius: Hey thanks man. Um as for the story goes. I don’t have it all there, cause ideas keep popping into my head and changing. But I imagine this little girl has a task of taking care of these bunnies. Like JMP said before, a sort of Alice in wonderland feel but instead of the “Alice” character going into the other realm, it’s the other realm spilling into ours (or rather the world the little girl lives in).
gpepper: Glad you like the mix! I am not be greatest modeler in the world (constantly learning) but I try to some how make it work (I hope)

Damm, I really love your image, the style and the idea, everything perfect! It's strange and even a little bit scary. For me one of the best images in this challenge :applause:
One very little detail thought from my side: I miss some details arounds the black hole of the open washmachine on the right side. I would expect some thing for the door to fit it, some technical details to really close the door. And often washmachine doors have some rubber stuff around the whole for really keeping the water inside...
But as I said, it really looks great! Wish you good luck!

I really like this, and the way you've used basic 3D renders as the basis for colouring is very interesting.

Well its finally done. Its been a lot of fun guys. I would like to think everyone who put their insight in and helped me along the way. I would also like to thank Roberto Goring for your sweet brush set, hope you don't mind. Also to Cgtextures for the use of your sweet textures to make some of my brushes. Another thanks goes out to edatron, Good friend and good fun going through the competition together.
As far as the story for the image goes. The girl has no name and her responsibility to these rabbits is unknown. And I Like it that way. As said before on a past post I wanted an Alice in wonderland feel but instead of the “Alice” character going into the other realm, it’s the other realm spilling into the world the little girl lives in. The idea of out of the ordinary things happening in ordinary environments is something that always intrigued me and this image was a nice play on that. As a character I do like the little girl and would imagine continuing her story. Images pop up in my head and I want to get them out. So maybe we will continue her journey.
Good luck to all and I hope you get some Beer and pizza after you submit your final.
