Im used to maya's nurbs curves made up of CV's or EP's.... and I like it a lot more when I'm trying to make specific contours with the line... and in max, I just cant use its meathod. Is there a plugin that will allow me to make CV (control vertex) and EP (edit point) curves? :curious:

thanx a lot, Cheers!

Howdy !

well i don't know Maya, so i don't know about it's CV and EP curves; but i do know that Max allows you to draw NURBS CV and Point Curves, it's been there for a while, and without a plugin.

Still i don't know if it's what you're after, maybe Maya's CV curves are far better or something, still i think a CV curve is a CV curve, no matter that you'd be in Max or Rhino or whatever ?

Anyhow, they are located in the Create Panel -> Shapes -> Nurbs curves rollout.

LOL, I think its obvious im a complete newbie... because thats exactly what I was talking about. I guess "lines" are bezier and "nurbs" are CV.... great, thanx man!! you helped a lot!

10pts for you!
Cheers!

3dmax runs very slow when it comes to nurbs. and i think maya is far more friendly in nurbs situations.

Poly modelling rulez.:p
and 3dmax rulez too .:scream:

As far as I know NO there is no curve plugin for max that creates nurbs curves like Maya. All splines in max are Bezier based with handles, and that's it.

HOWEVER you can create a spline, set the points to "smooth" instead of bezier handle, and you will get you pretty much the same result as a linear 1 pt spline in max mixed with a smooth interp. It's still different, but may do what you want.

You can also right click and choose Linear and it will be the same as a 1 step linear EP spline in MAya.
