View Full Version : Heart of the forest
MaansRune 08-14-2007, 05:17 PM This is my second painted image ever (two digital, non real life:D ). Still at the sketching level, but before I go any further I'd like som pro's (you guys) to give it som C&C to see if I'm on the right track. Aming for artistic beauty, not photo realism

I'm hardly a pro myself, far from it, but I think your colour scheme could benefit from a bit of de-saturation in places so that the colours are a little less vibrant and in-your-face. Another thing I've noticed is that it seems your lighting is coming from the top-left, judging by the lighting on the tree and the shadow cast by the big heart thingy, but the sunlight breaking through the tree is actually coming from the other direction. Either that beam of light must come from a different light source or there is a big mirror stuck up the tree....it is not clear either way. Perhaps you should try to clarify this, and make it clear where the source of light is.

So I changed the motiv. To many people seem to think I had a thing for My Little Pony :( So now it's more sinister.

You have some pretty nice sketches here. I think the idea is good...It might be nice if the heart was a little more like a real heart with the veins all bulging out and ....did i mention bulging. lol ...you know to make the heart look like it is really really straining and in agony. Yet the rest of the scene is almos serene but with an undertone of darkness with the vines and the heart.
