Is it possible to change the tooltip of a macroscript inside of a macroscript?

I have a script that does one of two things depending on if it's been run. I would like for the button or quad menu item to change between the two tasks when it is run for clarity. Is this possible?

Because macroscripts are defined for the interface with unique IDs, i'm not sure this is possible. Even if the instance of the macroscript was changable, there doesn't seem to be a way to access the macroscript creation properties, even when tooltip property is assigned a global variable.
