hmm i think you dont have enough ram for the whole thing. cus that happens to me too, i can only preview a certain amount of frames.
When i got a new computer i could preview alot more than with my older computer.

Why do you think it's called RAM preview? It can only preview as many frames as fit in the RAM. Depending on the RAM you have in your computer, those can be few, sometimes they can be many. It's as simple as that. To extend the duration of the area being previewed, reduce the composition resolution to half or even lower. BTW, just to avoid confusion, that "time ruler" is called work area.

i guess you just have to do a real render of that area to check how it looks.
or get ur self some more ram :P

thanks guys. What concerned me was that i used to be able to ram preview better then today.. i only could ram preview like 2 secs or less..
Anyway ill turn down the quality and re-try. cheers.

To add to Myl..
You can also turn off layers and effects that you don't need to preview. Region of interest is another good way to extend the ram preview if what you want to analyze is in an isolated section of your comp.

You can lengthen the ram preview by lowering the resolution. I think it defaults to half. Its in the Time Controls in the right bar, just change the res to third or quarter, or change it to custom to put in your own number.
Each frame would use up less space done like this and it should ram render faster as well.
Course I go and try testing this and I stream right to the end of my comp, aw well.
