View Full Version : weird looking bit when rendering
mark_battista 03-29-2003, 02:55 PM Hi, I've been modelling for quite a while now and everythings been going fine. The only trouble is recently when I hit render some parts of my models appear like they need some edge turning done. Weird thing is, there's no edge there and as far as I can see there's nothing wrong with the geometry. Here is a low poly missile I've been working on recently for a game, I was wondering if anyone could help me with this. Thank you very much

Howdy Mark !
I assume you're modelling with EPoly, since there are ngons in your model, and that's what giving this edge thing at rendering, i think.
If i got it right, the problem you're referring to i outlined in the pic below: fact is, poly lets you model using quads or ngons (more than 4 edges for a single face), and won't let you edit edges in a face, i mean that even with a poly object, a face is still made of 2 tris, just they are not visible/editable.
So a ngon is also made of tris, this you can see using the "Edges Only" command.
So my guess is indeed you should either make them actual edges (they are marked in red in the pic), or manage to make 2 quads out of your ngon.
