I just want to recommend this pack to everyone, it's a great set of plugins that are indespensible for modellers and animators alike, Samir has really worked hard to add some great new features for this release, so go get it guys!

Hi,
there are still DPack Complete Users that didnīt get the link to the DPack UserArea.
The link will be sent to all those users tommorrow.
@JDP: Yes, you will get an update of the DPack Modeling tools. This will be sent to users within 3 days. Thanks for your patience.
There are also special upgrade prices to the Complete package that save you 10$. Those will be available in the next few days in my shop.

I purchased the pack and am trying to learn the different features. The one thing I had purchased it for, however, does not quite work the way I had hoped.
DPPP seems to work best on a flat or flatish surface. What I was hoping it would do was to project onto a rounded surface, but if I select the points on the object so that only that part projects, as I suspected, the rest stays stationary and the point project onto the surface. Thus the object thickens at the curve but does not curve itself.
I cannot see how this would be achieved. Do you have any suggestions?
I have a dome upon which I wish to project some vectorized images (having created some stained glass panels with the vectorizer).
Thanks,
Cris

if you're using splines from the vectoriser then i sugget you use the inbuilt project option Structure->Edit Spline->Project. you can set the mode to spherical and it will project the spline onto whatever surface is there.

You could project the splines, convert them to linear interpolation, copy all the points in the Structure Manager, and paste them into a new polygon object. Then you'd have to bridge the points to form a surface. Not perfect, but a possiblity.

Thanks for the suggestions...
Per,
I had actually tried something like what you suggested. My computer crashed before I could render, but it did seem to work.
I took the contour out of the extrude...projected that spline and then re-applied the extrude. Then I made the 2D plane editable and used DPPP to project that. It appears to have worked. I will try recreate and post the render if it indeed worked.
Thanks,
Cris

Ummm...Contour made editable, then spline projected. :)

Here is the curved vectorized contour and the 2D plane following the above recipe.

Wouldn't it be a lot easier to texture map the design??

Hi Cris,
can you post a picture or a scene where it shows what is not working. From your description it shouldnīt be a problem at all for DPPP to project the polygon.
Thank you

Samir, I'll post something tonight when I get home from work.
Adam, except, your options are more limited with a texture map depending on what you want to do. I like to do it with materials where possible.
Thanks,
Cris

This is the contour with extrude nurbs made editable and connected. It has been selected and projected onto the sphere.
Result: flattened.
Cris-Palomino
04-02-2003, 03:53 AM
This is only the back set of points selected.
Result: only back row is projected.

This is the contour taken out of the extrude nurbs and made editable. Projected onto sphere and then put back in the extrude nurbs.

Hi Samir,
DPack can move points along their normals, but can it also move polygons along their normals? It would make life a lot easier - of course, there may already be plugins doing this. I am not really at home in plugincountry, so please forgive my ignorance.
Cheers,
BaRa

No plugin needed: Structure-->Move Normal

@Chris: Hä?? Sorry, what is wrong, what is right, what is DPPP what is the rest? Can you please send me a picture how it has to look like and a corresponding scene? That would help me a lot. I still donīt see the problem!
@brammelo: See AdamTīs answer.

Samir,
I'll try to recreate and send more images. I'll email you with a scene as I don't seem to be able to attach anything of any real size here.
Meanwhile, I've run into a problem. When I create instances through C4D, I can make them editable. Unless I'm doing something wrong, making the instances created in Duplicate, makes them disappear. The instances are still there but I can't see them. Am I doing something wrong?

You can see in the OM, this is how I have it right now.

I'm going to just email you. I have tried countless times to attach, but even if my computer says it's 20K, it says it's over and now it won't even take it at all.

Heīs talking about my next plugin. An advanced edge cutting tool. DeepCutLiner.
Canīt say more YET. ;)
I will post a preview of the plugin maybe this weekend already.
Be prepared to cut edges :buttrock:

I donīt know yet if this will be possible.

The normal knife does, but you first have to select the face you want to cut and then you have to activate point snapping

The main interest to me are the edges right now. But I see what I can do about the points. :) Right now the plugin already works for quads, I am now about to implement tris support. Then when everything works I will see how to add point support.

Check Maya PLE out, you'll see how important is point snapping ;)
Great news tho, really great, can't wait to test it :)

The cutter tool does work like the XSI edge cut tool. So I will only make it possible to control the starting and ending with a point.
But believe me, itīs so cool. I now am almost finished with the tri support. Itīs so precise and you get much faster the results you want. I love my own tool :applause:

You know the XSI tool recognizes points too, right? :scream: :D
Btw it will be a kickass tool, i'm sure about it!!

Designer,
I just purchased both the Dpack and cutter, but I didn't see an area to include my 11-digit Maxon number. Do I send this to you seperately? Thanks
Katachi
04-24-2003, 08:48 AM
Hi,
yes, you will have to send your 11 digits of your serialnumber seperately to me and I will then generate a key for your plugin. :)
