Nobody would even try modeling with only 1 reference view unless they absolutely HAD to. Myself, I use LOTS. I scrounge for the best side/front pics I can find, and then toss in another half-dozen perspective shots to line up in my scene, besides having tons more to just look at.

I also like using front and side view drawings as templates for my model work. But more often than not, I will get handed just a single concept sketch of a character. Usually, it's in some form of a 3/4 view. It's no big deal though, I just break out some paper and draw my own front and side views for the character.

I just use 1 reference when I model, if any.
I have the picture in front of me and just model freeform without any grids.
more tweaking is probably required this way but it works fine.
I had no idea 2 or more references were more common.
always thought ppl made those models without references.. :)

Hydra we are the same here :)
I'm trying to get (or paint) a perspective view of the object I want to model and model it by looking at the paper...
But most of the time I'm not using a reference at all... Well I know its not good but... well .... oh...ahh
Have a good day.
hello
i model with 2 ref, the reasons ? i have no mistakes on proportions, all concept are in a paper. i don't think on designing, i just model (it makes it easier and better model)
of course if i had one refrence i'm can model but, why i practice drawing if i use one reference ??
splitting the work makes it easier and the result better :)
good modeling anyone
