Excellent work so far. Could you tell us what your art background is? What does the "Moo" mean on some of your drawings?

IndigoPanda
09-10-2007, 12:54 AM
I just like adding moo into my drawings from my sketch book, just a little habbit. Sort of my way of signing things. As for my art background, I'm not sure exactly what you mean, but I kinda just fell in love with art sophmore year of highschool and I'm now in my senior year looking at different schools I might want to attend, trying to piece together a decent portfolio. Get my foot in the door in professional world.

Beautiful works, specially the recent sketches. I like your moo's they're funny, you added quack to one too :D
It must have been very difficult to do that painting with a mouse D: the skintone looks so real!

i love the angles in your work a lot. they really truely show the form thats there. and you definately have an eye for shading. your a senior and your doing this, you'll have no problem getting into where you want to be.

the athena one, the one with the cloth, where is that from?
you did a great job with it, thats my favorite so far.

So i've started my Figure Drawing pre-college class at SVA its pretty awesome. Don't have any of that work yet. I'll have to wait till i find my camera, but in the meanwhile i'll just put up some doodles from my sketchbook.

Great update! It looks like you're getting some structure into your drawings. I had a drawing teacher who just kept repeating the mantra, gesture / structure / gesture / structure. Good work. :)

Thanks Rebeccak, I'm hoping to get my life drawing class stuff up pretty soon. its really the only art work I get down outside of my highschool art class.

I like the second but last in this update and the last three of your previous update very much.

Rebecca said it all, basically. I am really looking forward to when you will be able to combine a little value work into sketches that strong in both gesture and structure.

Lots of great effort here - you ought to check out Anthony Ryder:

www.tonyryder.com - fantastic artist, who really emphasizes angles. I think you'd like his work tremendously. :)

Hey Thabiso

I like your values in the last one
About your linework, try to be as economic as possible when sketching, using longer lines (strokes if you wish)... search for the thing called "schwung" (=flow)

This is something that takes a lot of practice to master but you will notice that once you get the hang of it, it will boost your confidence in drawing immensely.

Great work, keep going!

I'll definitely try that, I think the only reason i'm not capable of it yet is I'm not really sure which line would be the most useful but I'll definitely work on it. You'll see me trying it in my next post =]
