I would like to put some detail on the characters body. The problem is that I have a Maya model and the detail I want to put on is hard to paint on the high res. model in Maya. The Character will be output to an STL file for Prototyping. I use the stl file converter by Rob Oneill.

When I put a displacement map on the model it shows up when I render the model but not in the STL file right?

Is zbrush the best way to put intricate detail on the body?

Do I have to paint the design on the body in Zbrush or is there another way?

What is the fastest way to put the detail on?

I appreciate your time to help me.

Not sure that I'll understand what you mean, but I'll try :wip:
1. yes
2. what's intricate?
3. you can make a model in maya first or in zb from the begnning
4. You can add small details with projection master

Ask more if needed

Thanks for the reply. I'm not familiar with projection master yet but I looked at a tutorial.

Some of my disigns (lines) are bumpy looking can I smooth them without erasing them?

"Intricate" means very fine and precise.

snuffel - yes, you can smooth it or blur in PM.

Signal2Noise - thanks!
