Hi all cg'ors

"Red and Boxbot Responds" was done by two guys in 48 hours during the 48h 3D jam 2007 in Stuttgart. Everything from boards, design to modelling, animation and shading.
In short: We had nothing when we started, and had everything when we finished.
However being aware of some of the few and minor flaws of the story and a couple of the shots, we got together 2 evenings to make the final polish.
Furthermore we have been gifted with an original score, done by René Brokop.

48 hours!? F**k me...

That really is beyond excellent. You could have said it took you 4 weeks & I would still have been impressed.

Fantastic!

I absolutely loved it! The story was good and the animation ensured that it was told perfectly (and unbelievably all in 48hrs!). Well Done 4 stars from me.

Ps. I now want an MP3 of the music, I'm sure it will make me work harder in the gym ;)

Its crazy to think that I'm taking 6 months to work on a film, and here you come and do something as good as that in 2 days. I honestly didn't know it could be done. Good work

this work is incredible, certainly I find difficult a lot to believe that it was made in 48 hours. All this very well, the music, the design, the animation!!, and the direction in general! ! ! !

48 hours = 8 hours * 6 days of work (and good later outside of the work to continue thinking of the project) or 48 hours = 2 complete days without hardly stopping? ? ? ?

Really incredible, could you upload a version of better quality?

48 hours in one straight line. 3 hours of sleep. the french guys in the competition didn't sleep at all. But yeah.. it was quite insane, and really really amazingly fun! not healthy for one's heart to drink 8-10 redbull and then stress through 48 hours of intense concepting, boarding, directing, modeling, rigging, modelling, cutting, making sound and finishing off.

i was craxy ppl. i think we'll do it once a year or something. it is so much fun

Hi guys

I am actually working on an Lounge album to be sold from restaurant from around Copenhagen. If that works out well, i think we will try to make an online sale.

Here is a sneak-peak 1.draft-version of 3 of the songs.

jammin:

We had two computers, maya 7.0 mental ray, photoshop cs, aftereffects and premierer.
We got a bit delayed for the competition due to a strike at the airport, and had pretty much no imformation about what was to happen. so when we had seen our desks and the red girl rig, we went for the park to get ideas, rough thumbnail the board while still keeping it dynamic and then just go with the flow with three hours sleep.

after we builded size standins, and started the robot rig we blocked out the whole film with playblasts as fast as possible, to get the animatic so we could check the cuts in premierer. we used references to update models and a standart lightning/set to import in all scenes to tweak. then run passes on the animation, tweaks, render and edit.

the criteria for the competition was only to include a model called "red girl" which had a really ugly face, so we obviously covered it up with a mask. furthermore we were allowed to bring whatever we wanted, models, sets, sounds, rigs, anything. Soeren and I didn't realize this, but i think it was a good thing for us to have nothing at. some of the other teams brought alot of stuff.

the hardware given to us was amazing. one 8cpu (octo_core i believe hehehe) monster computer, and one 4cpu.

we were actually part of the exibition. people were raoming the floor as we worked day and night. sometimes large groups of french or german people came and asked questions, tv crew etc etc.

it was an amazing experience. I'll recomend it to everyone. the only thing that really sucked was the fact that we could bring whatever we wanted. that made the whole thing a bit childish. I know we didn't take advantage of it at all, but it was a n[][]ish rule.
If we attend the competition again we sure to hell aint bringin anytin agayun.

thanks for the awesome reaplies. extrordinary! :D
