First, I'd like to say a big thanks to KayosIII for the POV exporter. This model really taxed the workflow. Ended up being close to 300K poly's when it was all done because POV does not do it's own sub-D so I had to smooth the heck out of it in Wings.

As feedback, the POV export died like 90% of the time while writing the geometry section. I'm on WinXP on a P4 2.? Ghz with 1 GB of RAM.

------

For years I've been meaning to "learn" POV, so for the last week or so I took the opportunity to not only learn Wings3D, but POV to render in.

The following work has a history, it's sort of my Utah Teapot. Seems like most every time I learn a new package, I drag out this concept that first appeared as a sketch in high school, then has been transformed into the following 3D versions (CyberStudio on my old Atari 520ST, WaveFront when it still ran on a StartDent mini, Animation Master, Alias, and now Wings...) so please humor the sentimental value :)

HERE's (http://home.attbi.com/~monkeyfarm/Temp/HMV/final_1_a_large.jpg) a link to a larger version.

What you see above is straight out of Wings to POV.

Here are a few variations messing with various POV material and radiosity settings.

And finally, THIS (http://home.attbi.com/~monkeyfarm/Temp/HMV/marylin.jpg) was just for fun... :) Kind of an homage to Warhol and Rodrigue http://www.georgerodrigue.com/index2.htm

Just wanted to share. If anyone has any questions on how to get stuff from Wings to POV, let me know.

I've been modeling nude for years...

Oh.. Yea.. Right...

Well, I first got into it around 1986-7 with Cyber Studio (http://www.asterius.com/atari/) for my atari ST. Been at it pretty much ever since on a hobby and occasional freelance basis. Never took the plunge to do it as a career as I was making decent money following my "business" career based on my college degree etc. I'm now batting around the idea of trying to see if there's anywhere out there for me to get into the graphics game again.

Thanks for the complements by the way!

The Image of the white dog I could see running along side some stormtroopers in starwars.

Uhh... Not really... I can show some lower rez models from early on, but I basically just subdivided as I needed to. Wings doesn't let you keep a low and high resolution as far as I know. You just kinda get the low where you like and smooth it.'

I'll get some wireframes up though.

Those are stunning - would you mind terribly if I added one of those to the Wings->Pov Gallery when I update it...

Very cool, how long were the rendertimes ? ;)

Side note: I saw somewhere on the net a script (macro) for povray to do SDS ;) but don't remember where it was :(

Yeah there was an SDS thingy for Povray.... I think though that it doesn't work with the 3.5 version of Povray that the wings->pov plugin depends on. The results I saw with it were not that brilliant either.
