hi all

(running this on a mac, core2duo 2.4ghz, 4gb ram, os-x 10.4.10 by the way)

i'm a little frustrated because i wanted to install ae cs3 final and when opening i only get the licensing error message "licensing for this product has stopped working". here are the steps i processed:

- i made sure to clean all previous public beta traces by using the cs3clean-script. = didn't work, same problem. i even used level 4 in the script to get rid of really everything-adobe.

- i called support-line and they basically told me what i already knew (see above)

- switched to a new user account (with fresh system settings), still the same problem.

- the same occurs with the adobe ae cs3 trial version.

so after uninstalling and deleting every possible adobe-traces and re-installing again few times it still doesn't work. wtf?

any ideas?
thanks in advance!

Level 4? The correct cleaner script in its latest incarnation has only 2 levels. If you used the older version, you probably haven't removed everything with it. The question also is, how do you install AE (the full version)? Upgrade? Suite? There is a known conflict between certain suite numbers and the update install which would require issuing a new serial via e-mail support.

no there ARE 4 levels, but only 2 are visible to the public. the adobe tech guy told me.

because level 3 & 4 remove really all adobe related. so it's not recommended usually.

so i cleaned it all and re-installed (not update) freshly. and the problem still occurs. even trial-version.

and i did this all again under a fresh user account.
so why does this happen?
i really can't understand.

Yes, of course, technically they are... ;) Anyway, anything else going on on your system? RAID? Non-default system directories? Does the Adobe Updater kick in at some point? Is Adobe Reader installed? Any other Adobe products after AE? At which point did you manually delete stuff? Before the scripts or after? Did you deactivate the public preview correctly?

i just said i uninstalled everything and used the clean-script (at level 4) to really remove any adobe traces on my system. and as you might have read too, i also tried to install it on a fresh user-account and trial-version, same problem.

just wanted to post back for users with same issues:

i found the solution. DELETE the files in the folder library/Preferences/FLEXnet Publisher/FLEXnet

and start the app again, now works.
