Is there a basic primer or method someone could give me for getting
Vray elements into AE. I am curious about which element to use in the proper
layer order with the proper blend, so that I can rebuild the image in AE. Basically, I am looking for a good method to tweak the image, but I am not sure which ones I really need.

Check on Chaos. Search for "render elements", and you will find a thread where Cris Nichols explains everything.
