View Full Version : Image hides behind palettes

By the time I have made one or two clones (i.e. I have maybe three images open), the third one that I do a "Save As" on ends up hiding behind the palettes on the right. Only half of it is even showing on the monitor. I kept losing these images until I figured out that they were only playing hide-and-seek. Is there any way to stop this behavior? It is a nuisance. The rest of the open images are neatly stacked on the left of the screen.

Hit the Tab key to close all palettes.

Select the image on the right and resize its image window, then move it wherever you want it.

In the future, to avoid ever having the image window on the right, don't maximize it and don't move it there. It won't move by itself unless a poultergeist somehow found its way into Painter. ;)

I am not sure I know what you mean by "maximize." The problem occurs when I do a "Save As" in Full Screen mode. Then I use the keyboard shorcut "command M" to take it out of Full Screen mode. From there it bounces to the right of its own accord. I know now to look for it there, and am able to return it to the left side of the screen, but I would like for it to go to the left on its own, instead of my having to move it.

By the way my Tab key does not work to hide the palettes. I finally created my own keyboard shortcut for that as I never did find out why it won't work. Does fine in Painter X. But......that's a different problem.

Hi,

I can't reproduce your problem but have a suggestion:

Instead of using Screen Mode toggle, maximize the image window, then restore down to reset the image window to the previous size and position on the Painter screen. Here are some demo images to show what I mean:
