Hi there people!

I've got a problem with rendering an animation with the maya batch render.
I've got multiple render layers, which should render finely one by one. But as soon as i start rendering it won't stop anymore. It just renders layer 1 through 5 and then restarts with rendering them over and over again... even when i just render one frame.

any ideas about that? it's a real serious concern since i shoulb be done by tomorrow ^^

thanks
Alex

p.s. i'm using an G4 Powerbook and Maya 8.5

Have you tried a batch render through the command line too?

no, i don't. how would i do this?

i also discovered, that this problem only appears when i try to render more than one layer at once. rendering them one by one works fine.

i also tried rendering them on the machines at school, no problems there, so it appears to eb a problem with my software or my machine :(

Tanks
Alex

Well, at least you found a workaround. I hope it was on time.
If the problem happens only in your machine, maybe you should consider a reinstallation.
About the command line rendering, you have to type
render -r <renderer> <options> scene file
There are lots of flags you can use and the manual will give you a good explanation on them. Do a search for Command Line Render and you'll find all about it.
You can also create a simple text file with a sequence of lines like that, in case you need to set more than one render. Don't know if that would be different on a mac, but in windows you just call this file nameOfFile.bat, and you can execute it like any other executable file.

Good luck!
Kako.
