View Full Version : Movie: "Alien Dawn"
derkoi 03-28-2003, 07:15 PM Hi all,
Here (http://www.dangerousderk.com) is our alien film "Alien Dawn", it's already received a lot of positive feedback from other viewers on the web.
It has some 3D work & compositing using lightwave & some other visual effects using After Effects. It's 13mins long & in a zipped Quicktime format about 15mb file size.
We're now shooting the second part which is a lot more ambitious & is going to be hard work!
Please feel free to post any comments....

I downloaded it and it seems to have worked OK. I unzipped to make sure it would play and it also seemed OK. I have not watched it yet but will in a little bit.

Sorry, I have not gotten back to you. I have been caught up in a mess here at work and then a close friend of mine and my sisters was killed in the war yesterday so I just have not had time to watch it yet. I'll try to sometime this weekend and comment on it on Monday. Sorry!

What are your intentions for this series?
As far as home-made B grade sci-fi films go it's pretty good, but it just seems to go nowhere and seems really disjointed, is that why there is a second part?
There are few effects and they are pretty basic, but if you are trying for that B-grade look, then they work fine.
The only thing that really got to me was the night shots, they were too dark and it was a bit difficult to make out what was happening.
All the best. :)

Hey aurora, No worries man! I think you've got more important things going down right now!
BladeFX, yeah there isn't much CG but the next one (which i'm working on now) has more. I'm pretty new to CG FX & it's all learning & pushing myself further within the practical side of my filmmaking.
T0BER, Yes thats why there is a second (& third) part. There is a bigger story to be told...
The night shots at the start of the movie are fine on DVD, but the night shots at the end were shot on a single CCD camcorder & not lighted at all, so we're reshooting that scene along with the second part.
Thanks for the comments
