DigitalD 03-28-2003, 06:19 PM This is something I started working on the other night when I couldn't sleep. I'm doing this without a sketch so I'm just looking for what people think about the direction I'm going with this and maybe what I could add/subtract.
Max 5
PS 7
Oh, also looking for a good render method! C&C?!

you can't link to something on your harddrive, you have to upload it somewhere.

WOOPS, oh I see...Has to be a URL. ............ok, how do i get a good size image posted?

It's going to be like a personal mech suit. And like I said, I have no sketch so I'm open to just about anything at this point.

Hey I like it, it looks pretty cool so far. Could you explain what piece we're looking at? While it looks cool, I'm not clear as to what it is.

Oh, yeah hehe..... It's the head. From front and back. The front view is the closer of the two. With it's "eyes" going vertically (yellow glowing camera things). The back view has the power unit (yeah, power unit...that sounds good).

Oohh, I see. And the bottom part is reflections? Kind of confusing without it being explained. Now that I see it, I like it so far!

what about the colors? i've been trying to settle on this for longer than I've been modeling. I'm rendering a more clear image with a deifferent color scheme. Oh, I was looking for advide on how to model the joints. If I want to turn it into a mech suit, I cant use the type of ball in cup or other android type joints. um.....
here: easier to see.....but why are my images so fuzzy?!

Dakin, it's Matt. Your images are fuzzy because when you save as a jpeg, you have the option to sharpen or blur the image quality, so you need to adjust it. Pay attention, fool!!
anywho, lookin sweet dood. Peace out.

Hey really nice lookin i think you should add like an antenna or somthin cool going up
and colors...prolly like grey and a grey green (and could you explain how you got it to look so good the shader i mean)

Sweet, thanks matt.
Darius, if you would like the material file, send me a PM and i'll get it to you. On the topic of the head antenna, I was thinking somethng like that, but more like the mechs from Neon Genesis Evangelion where it's more like...oh, i dunno....solid i guess. Geez...i need to sketch this out...

Most of what makes it work well is the use od a gradient falloff on reflections. There are other things that I wont go into detail on, but getting the falloff is important.
here's a wire, i'm rendering a new version with the new head attatchment.

Omg I really Like it looks very nice it reminds me of the cyborg ninja from metal gear solid

thanks Sime, it's been pretty fun just modeling freestyle and see what comes out. I can see where you get the MGS Ninja. I take that as a compliment considering the Ninja is a bad ass!:buttrock:
I've got a new render going with some nice embelishments added........coming soon!

I added some "scales" to the vent on the top of his head, along with the chin part and the large air vents on the side of the head. The next oreder of business is the power unit on the back of his head.....

:bounce: Almost done modeling the head! Just a few spots on the model that need so refining. I dropped the material until I can come to a decision (wasting time rendering).

I actually like the black and white :p
How about black on the part where it's black in the latest pic, and the rest of it red?

Hey, if anyone has a good method for creating the joint setup for an android or mech or robot or whatever, I'm having trouble trying to figure it out. Something has to move, but I cant figure out how to design it so that none of the metal is bending or distorting but still keep a full range of movement. Ummm....did that make sense?

 I finally decided on a color scheme! Soooooo? Also added some stuff to the eyes. I think I'm ditching the big air vents on the side of his head in favor of something else I'm working out right now. Keep in mind the reflections look much nicer when it actually has something to reflect......

I'm gonna render out a red version here soon, but in the mean time here is a 99% complete head. Just some wires and other small junk to put in and I've also figured out how to setup the joint system.

thanks Hellwolve! I'm working on something I thought up for a weapon for him. It's tied into his suit as well as a hand held weapon so I've begun modeling from the hand back to the elbow (where it will attatch). It's gonna be pretty freakin cool!:bounce:
