Hi folks,
I found that the way that I used to make colored UI in windows, doesn't work on linux.

And i've searched the net for 1 straight hour now, and i can't find anything about it,
but I know that it's a common thing.

So is there any of you that knows how to do it, some other way??

thanks,
Anders.

PS. My produktion just switced to linux...
now I can die in peace...:buttrock:

Info about UI colors is stored in app-defaults folder in MayaScheme file. You can copy this file in your home directory app-defaults folder and edit it.

hey marcinm,

Tthat's cool. But I need to know how to do it in a costum UI, on a button.
On windows you have the -bgc flag, but that doesn't work on linux.

So how do I color custom UI??

Sorry for not being clear the first time.

thanks,
Anders

As far as I know, the -bgc flags are for Windows only.

-bgc only works on Windows.

Yep, that's what I wrote, it doesn't work on linux.

And I'm asking if any of you, know what does work on linux?

thanks,
Anders

colours are about the only thing that don't work. Getting playblasts to work properly can be interesting, and sometimes there can be problems with sound (depending on your card and drivers). It's been a couple of years since i've used the linux version of Maya though, so things may have improved.... I don't expect to see -bgc supported anytime soon though.

I guess you could make use of shelf buttons using flat coloured icons to get some colour on buttons. Doesn't sound like a great solution to me though. I've used coloured icons as buttons before (i.e. changing the icon image when clicked), it works, but not for every UI control type (sliders for example)

okay, thanks. I might have to try that then.
Though I've been told that there is a way to do the colors similar to -bgc,
but maybe that was just a fairytale.

thanks,
Anders.

Though I've been told that there is a way to do the colors similar to -bgc,

to my knowledge, you can only do all GUI colours - not just a select number of controls.
